14/11/09: Just two weeks to go til I fly out with my film crew for the Official Unveil of SpaceShip2. It’ll be the first time I get to lay eyes on the tiny craft that’s going to propel me 360,000 ft into space at Mach 3. Busy setting up meetings with not only TV & Radio networks (about my doco) but also wanting to meet with as many New Zealand businesses that would be keen for me to promote their brand over in the US.

My film director and I are romanticising about a possible move to New York….so many possibilities!!

Latest adventures of Space Girl

16/09/09: Apologies for being off air for a while – here’s a quick heads up for those of you following the Adventures of Space Girl:

a) On Dec 7th I will be winging my way to the Mojave desert in California for the unveil of SpaceShip2. While the unveiling will be happening at Scaled Composites in Mojave, the first space flights will be taking off from the flash new Spaceport America in New Mexico view here..

b) ‘Adventures of a Space Girl’ the documentary is underway with Director Valerie Reid from NZ’s very own ‘Force Five Films’. Valerie will be flying to the USA with me to film the unveil and film me interviewing (time permitting!!) Richard Branson, Burt Rutan and various Founders. CONTACT ME if you are an original artist who would like your song featured in our documentary!

c) I was kindly offered a spot in the New York marathon 2010 through Virgin (figured until I was running Marathons in NZ I should give it up to a more deserving soul!)

d) The Founders have been offered another week with Richard on his private island on Necker in the British Virgin Islands to coincide with the unveil of SS2 – FYI a week retails at USD$22,000….

e) Speaking engagements are ramping up – we’re aiming to increase these to 4 a month – NZ wide

f) www.kiwispacegirl.com is getting an overhaul and in a month’s time we’re going to roll out the new look which is going to feature a whole bunch of exciting new features – such as a countdown to the next milestone event; live RSS feeds, Twitter, blog, video and how YOU can be involed in Space Girl’s rapidly expanding community.

So, as you can see, its been hectic and I haven’t even left the ground….but hey, who wants to sleep?!

20/07/09: Happy 40th Boys! The Anniversary of the Moon landing and 40 years on…Buzz is doing a rap song with someone called Snoop Dogg, 11 out of 1009 people surveyed in the US think Buzz Lightyear (from Toy Story) was the first man on the Moon and another 8 think it was Louis Armstrong….

18/07/09: With the 40th anniversary of the moon walk, there is obviously renewed interest in all matters ‘Space’. August is already pretty heavily booked with 4 confirmed speaking engagements and a general buzz from various media for interviews. Working on getting my doco tied down and my book is sitting there waiting to be worked on….

19/06/09: I picked up a copy of a French magazine in the airport at Nice in France which had dedicated its latest issue to ‘La Luna’ – particulary the Apollo Missions and the moon landings. Can’t read a bar of it but felt I just had to have it in my library!

02/04/09: I received a call today asking whether I would be interested in boarding a Russian rocket to spend some time at the International Space Station. I replied that yes indeed, I would be very interested however, I didn’t have $20 million (the cost of a return ticket) sitting in a Swiss Bank account. ‘Let me see what I can do’ said the caller. I’ll let you know when I’m heading to Russia.

14/03/09: All the Austalasian Founders have been invited to Sydney on April 28th to attend an event themed ‘Making Space for Earth’ to be held at the Powerhouse Museum. It will focus on delivering messages about the scientific and environmental aspects of space travel & exploration. Brian Binnie, Scaled’s accomplished test pilot will be a guest speaker. Can’t make it due to work commitments but good to see VG are heading more in our direction Down Under.

Shuttle launch invitation

20/02/09: Received an invitation from Mission Control to view the shuttle launch on 12 February from Banana Creek, which is where NASA family and friends get to watch from. However, the launch, scheduled for 7.30am on 12 February from Cape Canaveral, Florida was delayed due to faulty fuel leaks, so it was a good thing I didn’t make the trip!
